Glimmers of Joy: Guest Post by Kristin of Vignettes

Today I am so happy to introduce you to one of the sweetest bloggers I know, Kristin.  This girl has a gift for feeding the soul with words and recipes.  I asked her to write a bit about joy and here is what she said....

So often I find myself running through my day like I'm in a race. Rushing from one thing to the next, keeping half an eye glued to my list, ear to the phone, and fingers to the keyboard. So distracted by "work" that I fail to notice all the wonderful little gifts God brings my way throughout my waking hours. Little glimmers of joy.

Recently, I decided that I wanted to go through a typical workday a little more intentionally than usual. With eyes wide open to capture those glimmers, and a heart ready to soak in the joy that accompanied them.

Today I have a record of that day (and the glimmers that I found) to share with you. I hope it might encourage you to have an "eyes wide open" day of your own. You might just be surprised at all the joy you find around you!

My Glimmers of Joy

+ The cozy taste of Warm Cinnamon Kashi cereal along with my Pumpkin Spice coffee. Fall had a little party in my mouth this morning!

+ The smell of my hand soap (Hot Apple Cider) when I stopped to wash my hands. It made me smile every time I caught a whiff!

+ The flutter of leaves outside my open windows. Showers of brown and yellow floating down to coat the yard.

+ The gift of a dishwasher. As I was unloading the sparkly clean dishes, I realized that I didn't have to wash a single one of them. And that made me feel a little bit like a princess for a moment!

+ The peacefulness of my piano student playing Fur Elise so beautifully. Talent + humbly accepting guidance = a beautiful thing

+ The delight of e-mails and comments coming in - knowing people are blessed by what I take the time to share online.

+ The helpful encouragement of a "business chat" with my best friend. And the amazement that we still had things to say to each other after talking for hours into the night just the day before...friends like that aren't a dime a dozen - they are a treasure.

+ The thrill of my heart when I saw my husband's name pop up on my cell phone. After all these year, he still makes me catch my breath in awe that such a kind, generous, hard-working man - chose me!

+ The soft fuzzy snuggles of my puppywums at night as we cozied in for a movie.

+ The thought of how warm and soft my flannel sheets would be at bedtime. Luxury indeed.

+ The realization that I was healthy, loved, well-cared for and able to freely accomplish so much today - yet still have time to consciously stop and savor all of these beautiful glimmers of joy. It was such a wonderful exercise - I go to bed tonight with a full heart.
